The secret to a timeless look isn't as easy as it looks. It requires careful planning, but here are a few tips to help you master the art of styling a timeless outfit:

Incorporate as many classics as possible. My best investments are ones that are made on basic and functional pieces that can be worn over and over again. This is probably why I own so much black and white in my wardrobe because these pieces can be reassembled numerous times with other items to re-create a new outfit. I also like opting for pieces that are flattering on my body type. I always find myself grabbing a black turtleneck and a simple pair of shoes because black turtlenecks are fitting and great at hiding flaws, and a pair of strappy heeled sandals because they help elongate my legs. You can even add a watch, like this Daniel Wellington one because the timepiece can lend an effortless elegance. Enjoy 15% off with code ALLURE15 when you order off their website.

Balancing Proportions
To achieve a timeless look, you also have to play with proportions. It's all a balancing act so you have mix and match the right pieces. My #1 rule of thumb is to always have one piece that is larger and one that is slimmer so the look can be well-proportioned. I went with a fitted turtleneck so culottes were the perfect choice. Alternatively, a mini or midi skirt would've done the job too.

Find your style
If you take a look at Emmanuelle Alt, her style can be easily defined as timeless, but there is something different about it that makes her stand out. She gravitates towards a more androgynous look and is consistent so that you can instantly recognize her on the street or after a runway show. She wears her basics, but always finishes off her look with a pair of tailored pants or boyfriend blazer. For me, I always like to incorporate a feminine touch and this time, I did it with my favourite pair of culottes. The cut-out lace and mesh details definitely help in adding some girlyness to the outfit.
