There are many ways to unwind and relax. Some opt for a light afternoon jog around their neighbourhood to clear their minds, while others decide to spend a lazy day dressed in their PJs curled up in bed. Spring naturally brings out life's simplest pleasures - so for me, to relax means a blissful day spent at the Body Blitz Spa and wandering the bare streets of Toronto with my best friend. The massages were fully booked for the weekend, but the therapeutic water circuit was the perfect escape. The waters was truly a rich experience, alternating between hot and cold temperatures in a remarkably beautiful setting: Think low-hanging dim warm lighting, exposed brick, and glistening waterfalls. This is a great last-minute, no reservation required treat for any woman who is in dire need of a break.

Next stop: Elmwood Spa.

The moment I found out the weather will be above zero degrees celsius this weekend, I jumped at the opportunity to pull out my butter soft, fitted leather jacket that I picked up a few months back. While this leather, fur and burgundy combo is admittedly more appropriate for the fall season, I couldn't help myself. Anything far from being a down-filled or wool coat sounds like a fantastic option. To help bring back the 'lightness' of the outfit, I balanced the bold, black leather with a romantic, light silk camisole and added a pair white jeans.

I hope you're all enjoying a sunny Sunday!

While dark colours are my go-to in the colder months, my heart naturally retreats back to soft nudes as soon as the spring season hits. I've been seeing a lot of dreamy and ravishingly beautiful sheer pieces lately, but it's simply not warm enough in the city to be wearing just a thin piece of fabric. That is until I stumbled upon this waffle knit open back sweater with a sheer underlay. The open back reveals just the perfect amount of sheerness, while still maintaining its sophistication so it is appropriate enough for the office.

What's your favourite spring colour?

"Those Lips"

Have you ever looked at a piece of art and been suddenly inspired? I was perusing through some artwork online and I came across Edith Dora Rey's “Those Lips” oil painting (via Saatchi Art), and my first thought was Paris. So I decided to channel my inner Parisian woman and stepped out with my handy Kate Spade 'paris and the single girl' book clutch and painted my lips ruby red for an afternoon well-spent at Balzac's Coffee shop. By now, most of you may have caught on to my recent craze over red lips. Perhaps it's the pop of colour or the quirky smirk, but it instantly perks up a tired face and has never failed to brighten my mood. This may come off as a little strange, but I've always associated red lips with French women. Every French woman has their own unique story, but they all possess an understated and effortless elegance. The opportunity to visit Paris hasn't come my way yet, but I would love to witness how Parisian women embrace the less-is-more mantra. Here's my attempt at a parisian-inspired look, which is perfectly fitting in this kind of French-esque coffee shop setting.

When it comes to books I can't say that I'm an avid reader, but I do find myself picking up a new read once in awhile (sometimes even without the pages of written content). I first laid eyes on this beautiful Kate Spade book clutch when I saw it on the SS 2014 runway. I can't imagine this carry-essential to be sitting on my shelves for long this spring/summer!

the modern woman

March 2, 2014

Lately, I've been inspired by the simple and sophisticated mid-length skirt. Paired with a cropped top, heeled sandals and a clear clutch, it creates the perfect polished look for the urban, elegant woman.

How would you wear a midi skirt?
