Breakfast (or brunch) is my favourite meal on the weekends. I rarely have it on the weekdays, but it's the first thing I think about when I wake up on weekends. One of my go-to spots in the city is La Société. The French bistro is located in the heart of Yorkville where you can enjoy your favourite comfort foods in a beautiful cozy space.
There are two pieces that I will always carry from season to season with me—a lace top and a leather skirt. They are timeless and can both instantly elevate an outfit. While the lace brings out the femininity of the outfit, the leather adds a dose of edge. I’ve always been a huge fan of leather skirts, but have only owned faux leather skirts until now. A leather skirt is a real investment, but when you stumble upon one with the perfect silhouette and is buttery soft, you just have to say yes.
You may have learned by now that my wardrobe consists of only a few colours: black, white and pink. Since black and white are barely colours, I guess that means that my wardrobe only contain one colour which I sprinkle all over my home, closet and even Instagram feed. Now that the cooler season has arrived, I am happy to be renewing some of my old favourites, such as this oversized pink knit turtleneck and this wrap midi skirt.
There are a few reasons why I love Sundays... one, it's a weekend, two, it's usually a lazy, effortless day, and three, it's an excuse to brunch. Since moving downtown about two years ago, I have made it a habit to get out, socialize and brunch on Sundays. It doesn't happen every weekend because if it did, it would be nearly impossible to save (lattes and pancakes aren't cheap!).
Growing up, I have never been comfortable in my own skin. We're all wonderfully imperfect beings with 'flaws' that we are either born with or imagine for ourselves. We point them out left and right just because that's what we do. I'm about to turn another year older and as difficult as it is, I am learning to embrace some of these imperfections. As much as these flaws are a part of us and our everyday lives, they do not define us.
The fall foliage is coming and the days are getting cooler, which only means one thing—fall. The end of summer doesn't necessarily mean something bad. For me, it means there is now a reason for more layering and warmer colours to be added to the wardrobe. This season, Victoria and I partnered with Club Monaco to showcase a few of the pieces from their women's only Fall 2017 Collection. The pieces first appeared in #NYFW, but now the entire collection is shoppable online.
Stumbled upon this beautiful satin slip dress on sale at H&M and knew I had to have it. I've been obsessed with earthy warm tones as of late and this rust colour is exactly what I've been looking for. It's super flattering on the skin and with the satin fabric, it makes the outfit that much more luxe. I can see myself wearing it with a pair of slides for the day and slipping into a pair of heeled sandals for the night. It's very complementing and fit perfectly into the autumn season that is right around the corner.
As with any new home, you want to make sure that you’re maintaining the place on a regular basis so that there’s no build up of dust and dirt. Despite our best efforts with our last place, we just couldn't keep up with the maintenance and also didn't have the right equipment for proper cleaning. We recently moved into our first purchased home so we are taking all measures to ensure that we’re treating it with love and care. After all, it is ours.
Even though it feels like summer barely started, the season is quickly coming to an end. Transitioning out of summer and into the next season is always hard and changing up your wardrobe is even harder. The temperature quickly drops and suddenly, you need to pack away your favourite dresses and short skirts. Luckily, midi skirts are still in and they are the perfect transitional piece for those cooler days.
Tried and true, these are my 6 skincare must-haves after testing them out for over 3 months. I swear by these as basic skincare essentials that every man or woman should have on their bathroom counter.
What I love about a linen blazer is how comfortable, yet structured it is. This one from Zara has a slightly oversized, longer fit so it is perfect for wearing it as a mini dress with the buttons done up, but can also be transitioned into a more relaxed piece with buttons undone. With a pair of lace slingbacks or ankle boots, it can exude a very parisian vibe, but you can also instantly transform the entire look from parisian chic to downtown city girl.
What better way to spend a gloomy weekend than with brunch with some blogger babes? We opted for an oldie versus a new spot (e.g., Café Cancan, although we will likely make our way over there in a week or two). I don't recall my experience at Weslodge the last time I was here, but this one was definitely a memorable one. Bryce, our server was sweet and made our experience one of the best with his service and humour. The menus have changed since the last time I was here and everything was delicious — from the french toast to the fried chicken which Bryce had surprised us with.
