One of the first things I do when it starts raining is protect my bag. Whether it's a crossbody, tote or clutch, my immediate reaction is to shield it with all I have (in most cases, usually just my two small hands because I always forget to carry an umbrella). In my last post, I shared with you a story of my beloved handbag - the Prada Saffiano Lux tote. You can only imagine how crushed I would be to see it get drenched in the rain.

Enter the Es-Cubed bag cover. It is the perfect "bag"brella for rainy days and the cute charm designs are a plus! It's lightweight and can be easily tucked away in your bag when you're not using it. Today I'm giving away both a small cover and a medium cover to one lucky winner. Here's how:

1. Like Allure of Simplicity on Facebook
2. Follow Allure of Simplicity on Instagram
3. Leave a comment below with your email address

This giveaway is open to Canadian and US residents and will end on Sunday, November 30th at 11:59PM EST. The winner will be announced the following week.

Good luck everyone!

Little things | The Classic Handbag & essentials

Little Things-The Classic Handbag (1)

I've always dreamed of owning a Prada tote. When I accepted my first full-time job offer a little over two years ago, I knew that asides from paying off my tuition debt, one (it was two) of my paycheques will go towards purchasing the Prada Saffiano Lux tote as a way to treat myself after successfully completing 20 years of school. It was the largest purchase I have ever made, but it felt gratifying to reward myself after too many sleepless school nights reading textbooks, countless trips to cubicles of McMaster's Innis Library and consuming way too much jasmine green tea. It was a bag that I could call my own, earned all on my own.

Sweater Weather

AOS Picks - Sweater Weather
Abercrombie & Fitch Oversized Roll Neck Jumper // ASOS Premium Wool Jumper With Chunky Rib Trims and Roll Neck // Boss Orange Ibera Cape Jumper // ASOS Jumper With High Neck In Chenille // ASOS Poncho in Cable Knit with Roll Neck // ASOS Knitted Vest In Alpaca With Roll Neck // Reiss Malin Oversized Jumper with Roll Neck // Karen Millen Poncho Jumper // ASOS Rib Jumper With High Neck

Winter is upon us so stay warm this season with these soft chunky knits. To me, the prettiest type of knits are ones with turtlenecks. There is an element of simplicity and laid-back sophistication to them. For a sweet and feminine spin, couple it with a midi skirt or throw it over a silk slip and voilĂ !

Canadian Tuxedo

Canadian Tuxedo (1)
Coat: Zara wool camel coat
Top: Forever 21 denim shirt (similar)
Bottom: Forever 21 distressed boyfriend jeans (similar)
Shoes: Zara lace slingbacks
Bag: Prada saffiano tote bag
Sunglasses: Ray-Ban Clubmaster Sunglasses (c/o SmartBuyGlasses)
Necklace: c/o Maya Brenner asymmetrical mini letter "A" necklace

This particular time of year for me has always called for turtlenecks, knitted cardigans or pretty much anything that keeps me feeling bunched up and warm. By this time, I probably would've pulled out my down jacket and UGGs - something that is easy to throw on and truly effortless. But I won't and I will try to embrace the wonders of layering for as long as I can. So far, it has been working out surprisingly well for me, especially with the entrance of this new camel coat into my wardrobe! The colour looks sophisticated and complements my workweek and weekend wardrobe, such as this Canadian tux.

Shades of Autumn

Shades of Fall (1)
Coat: Zara wool camel coat
Top: ASOS white shirt
Bottom: Forever 21 faux leather leggings (similar)
Shoes: JustFab 'Emmey' heels
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff 'Love' cross body bag
Bracelet: Brandy Pham cylinder bracelet

There is something so magical about the fall. The wispy leaves, golden colours and gentle breeze gives me a feeling warmth and comfort. It also gives me a reason to experiment with layering, which I couldn't be bothered with before. Since purchasing this wool camel coat, I've been living in it morning and night either over my turtlenecks or thrown over my shoulders. It's such a classic autumn staple.

Another staple that I've been on the hunt for and been successful in finding is the perfect white shirt. It has the relaxed, crisped, borrowed-from-the-boys fit that I have been searching for. The most unique and my favourite part about this shirt are the elastic mid-length sleeves. I'm not sure if you understand or can relate to my struggle, but most of my button-up shirts also have button sleeves which I've never understood how to roll so that it would sit right. The elasticated cuffs are simply genius.

Sunday Birthday Brunch (1)
Top: H&M patterned scuba top (similar)
Bottom: Tobi 'curved' skirt
Shoes: Valentino rockstud pump
Bag: Prada saffiano tote bag
Bracelet: Brandy Pham cylinder bracelet
Lips: Sephora lip stain in "Always Red"
Nails: Rimmel "Stiletto Red"

My only birthday wish this year is to be able to celebrate with my loved ones and be perfectly content doing something very simple and low-key. Once upon a time, I believed that 21 was the ideal age and after that year... well, it would all go downhill. Now finally at 24, I learned that age is merely a number, as long as you are constantly growing with the people you love. I'm lucky enough to have been able to surround myself with positive people who have always been there to support me. I don't say this enough, but I'm truly grateful for all of the wonderful people I have in my life - that includes Terrance, my family, close friends, mentors and colleagues. Thank you!

In our fitted black tops and sheer midis, Wendy and I made our way to BMO's Fashion Saturday to preview the Spring 2015 runway trends from Toronto Fashion Week. We saw a lot of feminine silhouettes, pastel hues and floral accents - all which were very dreamy and spring-appropriate!

Here's my modern take on a 1950s classic: the midi skirt. I love the demure silhouette and beautiful shape, but what I noticed is that fuller midis can be tricky to pull off. I kept it as simple as possible by pairing this rose jacquard midi with a form-fitting cropped sweater and a pair of heeled sandals for a ladylike and sophisticated appearance.
