As much as I am trying to inject colour into my spring wardrobe, I can't pass up on an opportunity to wear neutrals. After an entire year, I was finally able to pull out my Babaton trench coat from the closet last weekend and decided to wear it over a simple white tee with some black pieces. The muted tones against the grey concrete looks amazing, don't you think?

In Full Bloom

April 21, 2015

When I hear "Spring", I immediately think of light pastel colours and florals. Whether it's flowers blooming in the season or floral printed pieces. Spring after spring, the uplifting print has never failed us. On the SS'15 runways, I remember seeing a lot of 3D floral prints on crop tops or muted floral prints on midi skirts. For Valentino, it was vibrant-coloured florals on cross body bags and dresses; Chloe it was white floral crochet, and Alice + Olivia – flirty and fun crop tops and flouncy dresses. Sometimes floral prints can come off rather old and dated, but I believe that if you find the right cut and shape for your figure, it will look modern and feminine. These three favourite designers did a fabulous job keeping the youth in these pieces while pulling in ‘60s and ‘70s influences.

This season, I’ve partnered with Winners to discover floral #WINNERSFabFinds at their locations. While mining through their racks and racks of clothing, I found these perfect trendy pieces for the spring:

Ever since the move, I've been spending my weekends either being adventurous and out exploring the city or being a homebody. I love the city, but most days, I enjoy the comfort and simple pleasures of being indoors so I can catch up on Netflix or blogging. Yesterday, I woke up and slipped into a button-down white shirt, a pair of ripped jeans and made myself a cup of roasted milk tea to start my day. I tend to feel most inspired to shoot and blog on weekend mornings and/or afternoons when there's a lot of natural light. This was the same when I lived at home, except I rarely received daylight because of where my room was located in the house. To be totally truthful, this was actually an important factor when we were determining where to live because I wanted a space where I could be motivated to blog more. As of late, I've been encouraged to do more planning and photos because the sun did not set until 7PM so hopefully I can keep this up. I want to get to a point where I can be posting more often than once or twice a week to keep the content fresh and interesting. If you have any suggestions on what you'd like to see more of, comment below!

The Shoe Diary

April 17, 2015

Untitled Over the last few years, I have really become a shoe-holic. I used to own a handful of shoes and wear them over and over again until they're worn out. Now, I'm finding myself splurging on shoes (and bags) instead of clothes. It's true - they are the best accessory to perfect your outfit.

Something exciting happened two Wednesday's ago. After months of anticipation, we filmed my first YouTube video! I have been meaning to start a YouTube channel for a little while now and this is the perfect video to kick it off. To be honest, I never noticed how much sweat and work goes into creating a video until I witnessed it first-hand. We started our morning at 8:30AM and was on-the-go up until 11PM. Wendy and I were extremely lucky to have Chun and Gord from Stories Worth Sharing spare a day to film us around the city, even in the pouring rain. The vision that I had in my mind was to capture a video diary of my day, hours before and during #WMCFW.

Her Majesty's Pleasure was the one place I wanted to visit because it is a one-stop shop for everything a girl needs. It just made so much sense to come to a place located in the heart of King West near where Toronto Fashion Week was held. It's also the perfect destination for anything from a latte or oatmeal cookie, to a drink, manicure or even blowout. When we arrived at Fashion Week, there was already a clutter of people inside, but we still managed to make a few rounds inside and stop at the #PricelessSurprise booth before the Mackage show. The Mackage show itself was well-done. It was my second time seeing one of their shows at Fashion Week and they delivered another great collection. For their Fall/Winter collection, the models were dressed in pieces inspired by the Arctic cold Canadian weather. They strut down the faux iceberg runway in an abundance of blacks and bordeaux with furs, fringes and an obvious one - leather. We were exhausted by the end of the night, but it was totally worth it! (P.S. we also spotted Meaghan Markle sitting front-row...)

Once I'm all settled into my new place and figure out how the video function on my camera works, I will be sure to film some more style, tips and DIY videos so be sure to subscribe! Again, this video (and probably this channel) would have never been possible without the help of Chun and Gord for filming this and of course, Wendy for her beautiful edits! Don't forget to check out her video here.

Although the snow has not melted completely, I'm happy that Spring has officially arrived. Last weekend, we were lucky enough to be able to borrow a studio for a photo shoot. When I stepped into the place, I immediately fell in love with the exposed brick walls, industrial floors and natural lighting that was beaming in through the large windows.

A quick post before heading out to do some more furniture and home shopping for our move next month. It's true - I've been cheating on fashion with furniture. There has been a lot more planning and prepping than I anticipated for the move and if I didn't have to think about the money aspect of it, it would be way more fun. Good news is that I'm spending my week off from work with my best friend and she's been helping me by identifying all of the things Terrance and I will need for the place.
