Frank + Oak recently launched their new women's collection, The Permanent Collection, which is all about layering. The look is a mix of 80s and 90s tomboy with romantic undertones. I like that the pieces have a minimal aesthetic, but are also functional and can be worn every single day of the week. For my pick, I went with a short-sleeve mock neck sweater and crepe pants in a beautiful dusty olive. The trousers can be dressed down with a basic tee, or up with a classic mock neck.
Today, I’m sharing something a little different on the blog and that pertains to a topic that most of us try to avoid — retirement. It’s not the hottest conversation especially when you’re in your 20s and have just found a career. After paying off student loans, we’re now just making enough money to cover living expenses and credit card bills. Saving for the future is definitely a luxury that many millennials can’t afford, especially because a lot of us are also trying to live in the moment.
When I fall in love with a trend, I fall deep and go off purchasing multiple pieces in different, but similar styles. Two bell-sleeves weren't enough so I had to pick up this one with frilled detailing just below the shoulders. They make a subtle statement and can be dressed up or down just by changing up the pairings. If you're going for something more casual, a pair of ripped or mom jeans would be perfect and would go nicely with a pair of slides.
With Valentine's Day coming up, what better way to celebrate the special occasion than with a piece by Mejuri? It’s the perfect piece to gift to all the loved ones in your life. When I first discovered this brand, I was particularly drawn to the intricate designs and dainty nature. All Mejuri pieces are hand-crafted with precious metals, gemstones and diamonds so you know that they’re delivering the finest quality. What surprised me the most was the price of these pieces. They are one of the first to introduce this new tradition of luxury. You no longer have to choose between expensive classics or cheap costume jewelry.
This pretty bell-sleeve trend has been one of my favourites of 2017 so far. I've already joined in on the fun sleeves with this subtle lace top and frilled peasant top. Now that I've tested out the trend, I wanted something a little more dramatic. Go big or go home, right? The real draw of the bell-sleeve trend is how perfect they are for making a fashion statement.
Bordeaux is the new black. For my partnership with Coach, I picked out the Dinky bag in a beautiful bordeaux 1941 red. It comes in a glovetanned leather that is buttery soft and luxurious. Like many of their other bags, it is designed with versatility in mind. This one can be converted into a handheld clutch, shoulder bag or worn as a crossbody.
I wouldn’t call myself a brunch connoisseur, but I am a brunch enthusiast and enjoy attending weekend brunch with friends and bloggers. After exploring some spots in the city, I've rounded up a list of my top 5 brunch spot faves in Toronto.
All dressed up in lace with places to go. You wouldn’t typically catch me in a dressy outfit like this one, unless there’s some sort of special occasion. It was a Saturday like any others, but this one was warm and I had brunch and coffee plans with a few bloggers. Anytime we get together, you can imagine the amount of photos that are taken so I found the perfect excuse to get dressed up in this lace top and these wide pleated pants. Over the last couple of years, I've been able to play dress-up in all sorts of trends and experiment with a broad range of looks. I would say that I have only been able to nail down my style three years ago.
What perfect way to start off the new year than with a fresh blog layout? At the end of every year, I sit here and stare at my blog and get sick of the design. The amazing thing about working on the Squarespace platform is that it allows you to constantly refresh your blog and website with an array of templates to choose from. I'm still in the middle of making slight tweaks, but I figured that it was good enough to launch. This new layout is much more clean in comparison to the old one and puts more emphasis on the imagery. New year, new change so why not?
And finally – the bag that I have been waiting for all my life. This Lo & Sons Waverley bag is the perfect everyday and weekend essential. It's a crossbody bag, but can also function as a pouch, belt bag (the fanny pack is back), wristlet and shoulder bag that will transition you from day to night. It comes with 3 small card pockets and 1 big slip pocket so you can fit all your quintessential items including your keys, cards, coin purse, lipstick and cellphone.
A new gem arrived in Toronto just two weeks ago and I'm excited to share it with you – it's called Oretta. An Italian-inspired restaurant with such an uplifting ambiance. As soon as you step through the doors, you will notice the colourful hues along the walls and floor tiles. I wore a muted outfit because I didn't want it to clash with the colours of the backdrop. Something simple, but feminine.
Wearing this dress one last time before the year ends. It's not exactly a dress that I thought I would be sporting at the end of the year, but paired with these sand leather ankle boots, it just works. I rediscovered this dress over the summer and fell in love with it all over again. It's such a romantic piece that I'll likely recycle again in the future.
